In the 9th century, Queen Jinseong seduces a general and banishes his wife from the capital. While she leaves, the wife – Yeohwa - is attacked by bandits and throws herself into a lake to escape. Her mad desire for revenge attracts a fox spirit imprisoned in the lake and Yeohwa accepts it into her heart, emerging miraculously alive but transformed into a creature half human and half monster.
