Testimonianza dell’influenza del neorealismo italiano sul cinema coreano del dopoguerra, è la storia drammatica di un agricoltore che, pur lavorando molto, non riesce a ripagare i debiti e mantenere la famiglia. La malvagità dei truffatori e il destino si accaniscono contro di lui. All’uscita il film fu selezionato per un festival prestigioso ma il governo coreano lo bloccò perché dava un'immagine troppo pessimistica del Paese.
